Metals Recovery Technology Inc. is pioneering the discovery, development, and commercialization of innovative extractive metallurgical and chemical processing technologies for separating, processing, and refining base and precious metals. Based in southern California, MRT operates on a worldwide basis to serve the needs of its clients and technology partners. We offer- scientific based and commercially oriented-hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical expertise. Our senior corporate staff includes members with Ph.D's in chemistry, geochemistry and metallurgical engineering. More importantly, their scientific accomplishments are reinforced by extensive technical and management experience in industry, working with companies such as: Rohm and Haas, ASARCO, Du Pont and many more. Other technical staff members have advanced degrees in chemistry, other related sciences or in the engineering disciplines. MRT has developed outstanding new technologies in several areas. RHODIUM Several years of R&D have produced the first truly innovative rhodium refining technology in decades. This new process reduces turnaround time for refining from a typical six months to as little as two weeks and reduces recycle and accountability problems to negligible levels. With the current extraordinary value of rhodium, this simple, quantitative new approach is very timely. MRT currently operates a commercial rhodium refinery utilizing this technology and accepts rhodium containing solutions and solids for refining.
PALLADIUM REFINING Spent Palladium catalyst with metal content as low as 100 ppm can be efficiently and cost effectively recovered. Development of a new hydrometallurgical technology operating entirely at room temperature with zero discharge has been the key to the success of this technology. MRT operates a large scale palladium refinery utilizing this technology and currently accepts any quantity of spent palladium catalyst.
OIL REFINERY CATALYST Spent HDS, H-oil, and similar catalysts used in the petroleum refining industry contain considerable quantities of molybdenum, vanadium, cobalt, and nickel. MRT has developed an entirely new approach to recycling these materials. Metal yields of 90-99% and purity exceeding 99.9% are typical. Many other materials such as boiler scale, nickel hydrogenation catalyst and the like can be similarly recovered. Cost of recovery is a fraction of current methodologies. This technology has been thoroughly tested on lots of up to 1000 lb and is ready for full scale production.
NICKEL REFINING NIPRESS is a new, completely developed, rapid, one-step recovery and refining methodology for nickel refining. Single pass recoveries and metal purity are typically 97% and 99.5% respectively. A second pass through the system yields recoveries exceeding 99% and purities of 99.9%. Nickel-cobalt separation is readily achieved and high purity cobalt is recovered with a second step.
OTHER TECHNOLOGIES Improvements in the recovery and refining of other platinum group metals and gold have been achieved and are in the development Most importantly, we approach technical challenges in an environment conducive to fulfilling objectives |
